A Republic Airways Associate is very involved in Business Resource Groups, so when ProPEL was introduced, she was immediately intrigued.

ProPEL is a BRG focused on professional growth and development and is open to all Associates. From leadership development to financial literacy, the group offers something for everyone.

She is involved in ProPEL because she appreciates the networking opportunities it offers, especially events where she can meet people in other departments she may not interact with otherwise. “In my current role, I don’t often have the opportunity to interact with other Associates in Finance, or in Human Resources,” she said. “I quickly learned participating in ProPEL provided opportunities to network with people across the Company.”

Besides networking, she has learned much from participating in ProPEL. In meetings, they often discuss how to handle complicated or difficult situations at the office and at home, such as how to communicate better in the workplace, how to draw boundaries, and even conversations with HR and Elements Financial about benefits and financial literacy respectively.

She shared that one of her favorite meetings was about having tough conversations. “It was a great refresher on how to conduct difficult conversations in an encouraging environment.”

The Associate feels that attending the events in person is one of the most underrated parts of being in ProPEL. “Sometimes people just want to listen on the computer but there is so much advantage to communicating and networking in-person.” She finds that direct connection can strengthen your relationship in a way that is not possible online.

One of her favorite moments with the BRG was when she brought chili to a company fundraiser and ended up spilling it everywhere. The other members helped her clean up the mess and then everyone shared all the different foods they brought. She recalls “It was fun to meet other people and work with them to clean up the chili.”

ProPEL has been a major support for the Associate in her career at Republic. The BRG has encouraged and empowered her to succeed in her career and in her personal life. She credits this to ProPEL leadership who are always looking for new ways to support Associates.
